Cooking-Karkidakam season special-Taro Stem Curry(chembu curry)

Here is an easy method to prepare Taro stem curry(usually  made in Karkidakam season) which is good for our body.

Karkidakam is when folks resort to an organic vegetarian diet made of special leafy greens and Karkidaka Kanji,Uluva Kanji and so on.It is a therapeutic diet aimed at cleansing and rejuvenating the system.

Taro Stem or the colocasia stem is good for the stomach and eaten specially during July to August month.

How to prepare Taro Steam Curry?

Ingredients:

  1. Colocasia stem-8 to 10.
  2. Green stems
  3. Turmeric powder-Half tbsp
  4. Red chilli powder-half tsp.
  5. salt-to taste
  6. Curry leaves-2 to 3
  7. Shallots-half cup,chopped
  8. Coconut oil- 3 tbsp
  9. Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  10. Red chilli

Method

Peel the outer skin of the stalks.Slice into rounds.Wash and boil with turmeric,red chilli powder and salt until it becomes a soft pulp.In a pan,fry the shallots in coconut oil until golden and add to the mustard seasoning.Pour the shallot and mustard seasoning into the cooked Taro mix .Stir and serve hot!
