Inji Thayir is a simple but important recipe served in Sadya or feast of Kerala. Ginger is an important ingredient in this South Indian state and is used in making some of the other recipes like Inji  puli, Inji curry, Inji pachadi etc. Ginger, as we all know is a natural flavoured root with lots of medicinal importance. Since ancient times, ginger was seen as a medicine to aid digestion. Green chillies, yoghurt and curry leaves are the other ingredients of Inji Thayir dish and all these are readily available in our kitchens. The use of green chillies adds a spicy flavour and this combines well with the sour taste of curd or yogurt. Curry leaves would enhance the flavour. Ingredients
  • ½ cup of Curd
  • 1 medium-sized piece of fresh ginger
  • A sprig of curry leaves
  • ½ of fresh Green Chilli
  • Salt for the taste
Method of preparation
  • Wash the Ginger piece and remove the outer skin.
  • Grate this cleaned ginger piece to small sized fine pieces. Take 1 teaspoon of these fine pieces and keep it aside.
  • Finely chop the green chillies and keep it aside.
  • Take the curd in a bowl and whisk it well.
  • Now, add the finely chopped ginger pieces, green chillies and the curry leaves.
  • Sprinkle some salt for the taste and mix it really well.
  • Serve this spicy and special Inji Thayir recipe as a side dish for Sadya.
