A perennial herb which belongs to the parsely family, mostly seen in Southern Europe, Middle East, India, Turkey and China.

Fennel seeds contains high percentage of vitamin C, fibre, iron, folate and manganese. Fennel seeds are also known for the presence of phytonutrients and volatile oils. Its been used as a flavouring agent, a natural insect repellent, in ayurvedic medicines against poisoning and stomach problems.




Funnel seeds are of oblong or comma shape with 3-4 mm in length. They are seen in light brown colour with fine vertical stripes over their surface.

It has a sweet taste similar to that of anise. In mediterranean cuisines, it is used as a essential ingredient.
