Love heart cookies perfect as gifts
Light,buttery and topped with natural icing – cookies
Love heart cookies can be perfect as gifts. You can also use lollipop sticks to make cookie pops with this recipe
Ingredients
- Castor sugar – 1 1/2 cups
- Unsalted butter – 1 cup
- Egg – 1
- Vanilla extract – 2 tsp
- Plain flour – 2 1/2 cups
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- glucose syrup – 2 tbsp
- Milk – 2 tbsp
Food coloring of your choice
For the frosting
- Beet juice – 1 tbs
- Butter – 1/2 cup
- Powdered sugar – 2 cups
Method
- Beat the cream butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat it well again
- Add flour,baking powder and salt and mix well
- Divide the dough into balls.Cover in cling film and refrigerator for one hour
- Preheat the oven to 190degree C. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and set aside
- Roll the disks to 1/2 cm thickness and cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter
- Place them on the tray and bake for 15 minutes or until pale golden in colour. Transfer the cookies onto the racks to cool
- To make the frosting cream the butter until light and fluffy. Mix in the powdered sugar, and the beet juice until you get the desired colour and consistency
- Cover the cookies with the glaze
