Rava laddoo is a sweet recipe which is popular among the people all over India. This is an easy dish and would require merely 25 minutes for its preparation. Delicious and yummy sweet flavour comes with the addition of sugar. Sugar can be used in two different ways, one is in the powdered form and the other is in the form of sugar syrup. The use of dried grated coconut pieces combines well with the light brown texture of roasted semolina. Roasted cashew nuts and raisins are also added for an increased flavour. Any one of the spices like cardamom, cloves and saffron can be used for an aromatic flavour. The use of more ghee and less milk would increase the softness and gives away a melting experience. Ingredients for making Rava laddu
- 1 cup of small grained Rave / Semolina / Upma rava / Sooji
- ¾ cup of Sugar
- 2 tablespoon of grated dry coconut
- ¼ cup of Ghee
- Few strands of Saffron soaked in warm milk
- 2-3 tablespoon of Cashew nut
- 2-3 tablespoon of Raisins
- 5-6 tablespoon of warm milk

Method of preparation of Rava laddu
- Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a thick bottom pan and fry the raisins and cashew nuts.
- Once the cashew nuts attain a light brown texture and the raisins turns plump, take it off from the flame and keep it on a wide open plate.
- Fry the rava / semolina in a pan. Once it starts to change colour, transfer it to the same wide open plate which contains roasted raisins and cashew nuts.
- Now, warm the dried and grated coconut pieces and add it to the rava.
- Add the sugar and the ghee. Meanwhile, soak the saffron pieces in the milk.
- Mix all the ingredients with a ladle. Sprinkle some warm milk on top of the mixture and again mix the ingredients.
- Once the mixture is ready, take out some portion from the mixture and roll it to form a lemon sized laddu.
- Continue the process until the whole of the rava mixture is made into laddu.
- Rava laddus are ready, serve it as a dessert.
- Store the rest of the laddus in an airtight container for later use.
