Ingredients of Kappa (Tapioca) Recipe

  • Tapioca – 2
  • Tapioca Water (to cook)
  • Salt for taste

To grind:

  • Coconut – 1
  • Cumin seeds – 1
  • Garlic – 2
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to grind

  • Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Onions (small, chopped) – 3
  • Red chilli (dry whole) – 3
  • Curry leaves few

How to Make Kappa (Tapioca) Recipe

  1. Take fresh tapioca’s and peel off the skin.
  2. Cut the tapioca’s into cubes and wash them in water thoroughly.
  3. Boil the tapioca’s with little salt in a cooking vessel. Until it turns soft and well cooked.
  4. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  5. Add coconut, cumin seeds, garlic, green chilli, turmeric powder, salt in a blender. Blend until a fine paste.
  6. Now add the cooked tapioca’s and the paste in a large cooking vessel.
  7. Cook for about 10 mins until the gravy starts to thicken.
  8. You can even mash the tapioca’s using a wooden spoon.
  9. Remove from flame and keep aside covered.
  10. Add oil in a small pan and heat over medium flame.
  11. To this add mustard seeds, when oil is hot. Let them splutter.
  12. Add the chopped onions, red chillie’s, curry leaves and saute until golden brown.
  13. Now pour the tempering into the cooked tapioca.
  14. Keep it covered so that the flavors from the tempering oozes onto the dish.
  15. Serve it hot along with your favorite fish curry or beef curry or chicken curry.
